India Skincare Dermacosmetics Market

Increasing E-Commerce Penetration Fueling Skincare Dermacosmetics Use in India

The Internet and Mobile Association of India predicts that the number of active internet users in India will surge from 622 million in 2020 to 900 million by 2025. The organization states that nearly 28% of the internet users in 2020 were regular online shoppers in the country. Thus, the rising proliferation of e-commerce platforms, on account of the growing penetration of the internet, will encourage the adoption of skincare dermacosmetics in India as a wide range of personal care products are available on such platforms.

Besides, the increasing incidence of skin diseases and the soaring focus of people on improving their physical appearance will also help the Indian skincare dermacosmetics market exhibit an exceptional CAGR of 10.2% between 2021 and 2030. According to P&S Intelligence, the market revenue will rise from $188.2 million in 2021 to $449.6 million by 2030. As per the Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine, around 7.9% to 60% of Indians across different geographical regions are living with some form of skin disorder.

Presently, producers of skincare dermacosmetic products in India are offering new and improved products to meet the evolving and rising needs of the Indian populace. For example, in January 2019, Sesderma India Private Limited unveiled its plan to launch Dr Serrano Clinics in India. With this move, the company aims to provide methodology-based customized cosmetic procedures to its customers. Other companies introducing new skincare dermacosmetics in the country include ITC Limited, NAOS, Honasa Consumer Private Limited (The Derma Co.), and Cadila Healthcare Ltd. (Zydus Cadila).

In contemporary times, the northern region has emerged as the leader of the Indian skincare dermacosmetics market due to the growing incidence of skin diseases and advancing healthcare infrastructure. Additionally, the presence of international brands and easy availability of skincare products in northern parts of the country will also propel the usage of skincare dermacosmetic products in the region. In recent years, tier-1 and tier-2 cities of north India have observed a rapid shift of people toward physical well-being by using organic, natural, anti-aging, and anti-pollution skincare products.
